EV Charging
A properly installed home EV charger costs between £1,095 and £1,395 depending on the charger brand and any additional electrical work required. That includes the charger unit, all cabling, a dedicated RCBO in your consumer unit, surge protection, testing, certification, and commissioning.

All prices include: charger unit, IP65 surge protection consumer unit, 32A or 40A RCBO, up to 10m of cable, installation, testing, Part P certification, commissioning, and app setup.

The Zappi is the charger of choice if you have solar panels. Its "eco mode" diverts excess solar generation directly into your car rather than exporting it, which can significantly reduce charging costs. If you don't have solar, a standard smart charger (Fox ESS or Tesla Wall Connector) is perfectly adequate and slightly cheaper.
An EV charger must be connected to its own dedicated circuit with a type A or type B RCBO (residual current breaker with overcurrent protection). Some cheaper installations use a shared circuit or a basic MCB — this is not compliant with BS 7671 wiring regulations and could invalidate your home insurance. Every AFTA installation uses a dedicated RCBO as standard.

The Zappi is best if you have solar panels (it can charge your car from excess solar). The Fox ESS charger and Tesla Wall Connector are excellent all-round smart chargers at slightly lower cost.
In most cases no — home EV charger installation is permitted development. However, if your property is listed or in a conservation area, permitted development rights may not apply. We advise on this during survey.
A standard installation takes 2–4 hours. More complex jobs with long cable runs or consumer unit work may take a full day.
